BIOGRAPHY & DESCRIPTION
Nigerian-American performance poet and vocalist, Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo merges poetry and music to inspire a new generation of audiences who demand more from the current direction of mainstream music. Embraced as a top poet on the National Poetry Slam circuit, Iyeoka creatively and dynamically integrates poetry into the global landscape. Recognition of her music and poetry has led to opportunities that included invitations to events and commissions to create original poems for corporate and humanitarian organizations from Arnold Worldwide Ad Agency to The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation. Whether in the classroom or on a soundstage, Iyeoka uses her experience and knowledge of performance poetry, vocal exercises, and creative writing abilities to inspire others to tap into their own promise as contributing artists.
